North Sea Oil Platform
Scope of works
We were approached the Platform to provide Fire & Gas (F&G) Detection and Emergency Shutdown (ESD) Systems for the Platform complex located in the Moray Firth basin of the UK sector of the North Sea. Ultimately to extend the working life span of the platform and increase safety systems integrity.

The Cetix Limited equipment is basically quantified as a total of six networked TMR systems, with approximately 4,500 field points and 14 SCADA Workstations networked together.
The platform complex consists of a fixed Drilling and Process Platform, bridge linked with the Utilities and Quarters Platform. Each of the four main modules, Process, Drilling, Utilities and Living Quarters has a local equipment room housing the Safety Related Equipment.
Each LER system communicates with the Central Control Room F&G or ESD operator interface consoles to provide Alarm, Indication and Interaction.
The implementation of Inhibits and Bypasses being set and removed via the software was the first DNV/Lloyds certified software override and by-pass system.
Cetix has supplied a new addressable Fire & Gas system based on the Autronica system, upgraded the SCADA system from FactoryLink to Wonderware InTouch and upgraded the ESD and Fire & Gas Triconex TMR systems from version 7/8 to 10.5.
Since the commissioning of the original systems in the early 90’s Cetix Limited has provided ongoing 24hr support and maintenance throughout the life of the
platform and has successfully implemented numerous changes and upgrades to the systems.
Cetix Limited supplied and maintains a Cetix Limited proprietary Autotest System which tests in real time, the ESD and F&G PLC logic against the system generated Cause & Effects.
Cetix Limited were awarded a major project valued in excess of £1.5m to upgrade the Scott F&G systems in order to extend the life of the platform.
