Upgrade of PLC System Hardware for AGI Installation
Scope of works
To upgrade the existing PLC system hardware
Cetix have had a long connection with the pipeline linking Scotland to Northern Ireland, providing the control and monitoring systems for the AGI’s for over 25 years. This has involved several modifications, upgrades, and support over the years.
The most recent project involved the upgrade of one of the AGIs. This upgrade was unusual compared to previous upgrades as it included the design and supply of a new GRP kiosk with the addition of mess and welfare facilities. This AGI was in an exposed location and the years and weather had taken their toll. We haven’t supplied a kiosk for a while, it was great to work with Glasdon again. AGI’s are off the main utility grids so the addition of welfare and mess facilities are a welcome addition.
An obsolescence report that Cetix produced identified several systems that were in need of an upgrade. These ranged from the workhorse Rockwell PLC 5 with a ControlLogix system, the marshalling panel, the UPS and Transformer. A smooth installation and commissioning phase was assisted with decent weather ensuring a successful outcome.
