A major operator within the UKCS required continued technical support for the safety critical ESD, Fire and Gas and Autronica systems on one of its mature North Sea production assets throughout 2026. Cetix, who originally supplied these systems and have supported them since the early 1990s, prepared a comprehensive annual Healthcare Support package to maintain system reliability and provide continuous engineering coverage.
Customer challenge
The UKCS asset operates complex and ageing safety systems that have evolved through extensive modifications over many years. To sustain production efficiency and maintain safe operations, the operator required:
- Continuous access to specialist engineering support
- Offshore health checks and preventative maintenance
- Remote diagnostics capability for rapid issue resolution
- Controlled storage and management of critical spare equipment
- Coverage for both legacy systems and recently installed upgrades
Our solution
Cetix proposed a complete support service covering the full calendar year. The package included the following key elements.
1. Telephone and remote support
- A dedicated twenty four hour support number
- Direct access to experienced engineering personnel
- Remote diagnostics wherever possible
- Defined annual support hours allocated to each system group
2. Scheduled offshore maintenance visits
Two planned offshore visits were included:
- One extended visit covering ESD, Fire and Gas, Autronica and a full spares audit
- One shorter visit focused on ESD and Fire and Gas health checks
Typical activities included system inspection, software verification, creation of backups, log reviews, identification of operational improvements and delivery of formal reports.
3. Spares management
Cetix also managed the operator’s critical spares by:
- Storing equipment in a secure and environmentally controlled bonded area
- Maintaining inventory records and conducting regular audits
- Managing repairs, replenishment and compatibility checking
- Providing monthly reports for full traceability
4. Systems supported
The contract covered the full suite of safety systems on the asset, including:
- Multiple Triconex TMR systems
- Hima Sella HIPPS systems
- InTouch SCADA installations across several locations
- Autronica AutroSafe4 systems installed between 2018 and 2025
