We are looking for a diligent, hands on Senior Control Systems Engineer with an excellent understanding of SCADA and PLC control systems to join our team. TÜV Functional Safety Certification (IEC 61508 / IEC 61511) is not essential but would be a significant advantage.
Duties/objectives
- Work as part of and lead a project team delivering control system projects.
- Work within an engineering team, reporting to the project manager to produce essential project lifecycle documentation, writing technical specifications, schedules, and technical reports, commissioning documentation. Understand client user requirements and formulate solutions together with assisting with estimates and sales proposals. This includes developing and formulating Functional Design Specifications and other key design documentation to meet project requirements.
- Working within the project time scales, independently formulate and develop the software to meet the functional requirements.
- Working within the project time scales, independently develop test procedures and carry out functional testing of the assembled system.
- Train and develop less experienced engineers within the business. Willingness to develop work colleagues’ knowledge through workshops. Become a leader and share knowledge and information.
- Produce and support network designs, using network protocols such as serial networks and system integration Modbus RTU/TCP, OPC Classic, OPC UA, Profibus/ProfiNet PA/DP, topology and server redundancy.
- Interface with clients on technical matters and raise technical queries, and communicate with subcontractors, suppliers and customers. Participate in design meetings, work independently, and manage time and organise workload to achieve objectives within the project timescales.
- Work on project development, commissioning, and troubleshooting (testing and debugging) in house and on site. Able and willing to partake in project work on site, including the physical installation of hardware, and carry out on-site commissioning of the assembled system. Typically this is within the UK but there is potential to partake in project work both offshore and abroad.
- As required, work flexible hours to meet project targets.
- As required, partake in out of hours customer telephone support.
- As required, attend client meetings to discuss project requirements.
- As required, assist in preparation of sales proposals.
